Since his early days at Transmission TX, where the friends he made at Shepperton Studios have been the lifeblood of his impressive and hugely diverse freelance career, Sam has consistently performed in a demanding, often intense, reality environment: from Lad’s Army to series 1 -19 of the Apprentice (He didn’t get fired!) to numerous Brat Camps and, more enjoyably, Series 1 to 4 of The Choir where his sound work on Series 4 was nominated for a BAFTA. If you’re lucky enough to work with Sam, just bear in mind that he’s partial to a daily riverboat commute... with mooring strictly by riverside pub only.

João’s inimitable smile (and incredible talent) has opened doors for him at every major network in the UK and USA. 29 years
since arriving from Rio, he’s made his name in
feature films, commercials, documentaries and reality TV, all whilst still trying to perfect his King’s English! (If you’ve ever detected a wee twang, you’d be right in guessing that this Brazilian jock is of Scottish heritage no less!) Promoted from sound assistant to recordist, engineer, supervisor and sound guarantee… his face is extremely well known, so it’s hard to understand how he was once mistaken for a young male escort on Copacabana beach...

Our very own multi-talented sound recordist was scouted at a tender age. He rose rapidly through the ranks and successfully survived Survivor so now, as an expert production team member, he’s giving out some sound advice himself. If you ever find yourself on an early morning beach location full of celebs, contestants and crew, Hugo has written the ultimate guide on how not to faceplant while trying to climb onto a low-hanging branch with your sound bag on!
